Idle Saturday, the Washington Huskies (6-1, 3-1) remained at No. 12 in the Associated Press college football rankings released Sunday. No. 15 Washington State (7-1, 4-1) failed to move in the poll despite drubbing Colorado 28-0 Saturday night at Martin Stadium. UW collected 836 points, WSU 648.
Washington also stayed at No. 12 in the coaches poll while Washington State jumped two spots to No. 16.
USC (6-2, 1-2), the media preseason pick to win the Pac-12 title, took the biggest dive among Pac-12 schools in the AP poll, falling from No. 11 to 21st after losing at Notre Dame 49-14. The only other conference member to make the AP rankings this week: No. 20 Stanford (5-2, 4-1). Like Washington, Stanford had a bye Saturday.
Alabama remained No. 1 in the AP poll with 61 first-place votes and 1,525 points. No. 2 Penn State, No. 3 Georgia, No. 4 TCU and No. 5 Wisconsin round out the top five.
Washington hosts UCLA Saturday in the Huskies’ first day game of the season (12:30 p.m., ESPN2). The Cougars are on the road Saturday at Arizona.(6:30 p.m., PT, Pac-12 Networks).
