Washington (7-1, 4-1) stayed at No. 12 in the Associated Press college football rankings released Sunday despite its 44-23 thumping of UCLA, while Washington State (7-2, 4-2) plummeted 10 spots to No. 25 following a 58-37 drubbing at Arizona. Both the AP and coaches polls will take on less significance this week when the College Football Playoffs rankings are released Tuesday.
Aside from Washington State, two other Pac-12 schools are ranked this week, No. 17 USC (7-2, 5-1) and No. 18 Stanford (6-2, 5-1). The Trojans throttled Arizona State 48-17 at Tempe while the Cardinal barely held on at Oregon State 15-14.
Washington moved up one notch to No. 11 in the coaches poll. USC came in at No. 17 while Stanford is 18th, same as AP. Washington State, 16th last week, dropped out of those rankings.
Alabama, idle last week, remained No. 1 in the AP poll with 59 first-place votes and 1,523 points. The Crimson Tide is followed by No. 2 Georgia, No. 3 Ohio State, No. 4 Wisconsin and No. 5 Notre Dame.
The Huskies remain at home Saturday for a date with Oregon (7 p.m., FS1) while the Cougars return to Martin Stadium to host No. 18 Stanford (12:30 p.m. Fox).
