The University of Washington parlayed its 41-14 Apple Cup victory last Saturday night into a four-place jump in the weekly College Football rankings released Tuesday night on ESPN. The Huskies came in at No. 13 after their decisive win in the rivalry game, and will learn Sunday where they will go bowling, and against whom.

Washington was one of four Pac-12 schools to make the latest CFP Top 25. USC (10-2, 8-1) is at No. 10 and Stanford (9-3, 7-2) at No. 12. The Cougars are No. 18 after climbing to No. 14 last week. USC and Stanford will meet in the Pac-12 championship game Friday at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco (5 p.m., ESPN).

Washington is ranked the same in the CFP poll as it is in the Associated Press and coaches rankings. The Cougars are sightly higher in the CFP poll (18th) than AP (21st) and coaches (22nd) rankings.

With No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Miami losing last Saturday, the CFP latest poll has new teams at the top: No. 1 Clemson and No. 2 Auburn. They are followed by No. 3 Oklahoma and No. 4 Wisconsin. Alabama fell to No. 5 and Miami to No. 7.

The Huskies (10-2, 7-2) are projected to play in the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio Dec. 28 (6 p.m. PT., ESPN), while the Cougars (9-3, 6-3) are projected for the Foster Farms Bowl at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara Dec. 27 (5:30 p.m., FOX).

Gaskin wins Pac-12 honor

RB Myles Gaskin Tuesday was named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week after rushing for 192 yards and four touchdowns in Washington’s 41-14 Apple Cup victory over Washington State.

Gaskin became the first player in UW history to score four or more TDs in multiple games during his career. He tallied from 2, 2, 26 and 3 yards. His 19 touchdowns are third-most in UW history in a single season.

Gaskin is the third UW player to win a weekly conference award this season. Punt returner Dante Pettis won for the weeks Sept. 11, Sept. 17 and Nov. 6 for his efforts on special teams, and QB Jake Browning won the offense award Nov. 20.
