Daniel F. Fears, an attorney representing Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon, said Thursday that his client adamantly denies sexual harassment allegations made against him this week by a former employee of Moon’s, Wendy Haskell. Those allegations, contained in a lawsuit filed against Moon Monday, can be found here.
“Warren Moon has yet to be served with the lawsuit filed by Wendy Haskell, but he is aware of the claims contained in it,” Fears said. “Mr. Moon denies the claims by Ms. Haskell. Mr. Moon contends these claims are meritless, and he has every intention to vigorously defend himself in court.”
Haskell worked as an executive assistant for Moon’s sports marketing company, Sports Marketing 1.
In the wake of Haskell’s allegations, the 61-year-old Moon asked for and received an immediate leave of absence from his job as a radio analyst for the Seattle Seahawks.
“Mr. Moon recognizes that his duties as a commentator on the Seattle Seahawks radio network will be impacted as he defends himself against these claims, and he has requested a temporary leave of absence from his duties with the Seahawks, which has been granted,” Fears added.
Moon starred at quarterback for he University of Washington in the late 1970s, leading the Huskies to a 1978 Rose Bowl win over Michigan. He later played six years in the Canadian Football League for the Edmonton Eskimos and for 17 years in the NFL with the Houston Oilers, Minnesota Vikings, Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs.
He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006, and is also a member of the Canadian Football League and Rose Bowl halls of fame.
