You knew the Huskies were overhyped, didn’t you?
Most of the prognosticators, including a couple here at Sports Press Northwest, had it wrong last week. BYU was able to do enough in last Saturday’s win over Washington to send the Huskies to 0-1.

ESPN’s Ted Miller says Washington will win 31-22.
Phil Steele’s computer says Washington 28-21.
Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury News picks Washington.
John Tamanaha at NBCsports.com picks Washington 24-14.

Washington 24, Syracuse 20 — For UW fans, this game will be more uncomfortable than burlap underwear, because Huskies showed at BYU that they aren’t as good as the hype. Home field overcomes mediocre opponent.
Seth Kolloen (Overall: 0-1, vs. spread: 0-1)
Syracuse 72, Washington 9: When Florida pastor/pyromaniac Terry Jones burns hundreds of “The Express: The Ernie Davis Story” DVDs, an enraged Orange team overwhelms the Huskies. Washington’s only points come in the fourth quarter, when benched quarterback Jake Locker reinvigorates his Heisman campaign as a ball-hawking strong safety. On consecutive plays, Locker runs back an interception for a touchdown and sacks Syracuse QB Ryan Nassib in the end zone. Todd McShay announces after the game that Locker is the likely #1 overall pick in the draft.
Todd Dybas (Overall: 0-1, vs. spread: 0-1)
Washington 27, Syracuse 17: The offense will be better this week, for once presenting a distinct athletic difference in Washington’s favor. Freshman Jesse Callier also shows more to like in his expanded role.
