    Sounders Johnson, Evans called to USMNT

    Forward Eddie Johnson and midfielder Brad Evans have been called from training with the Sounders to the U.S. National Team to play in the 2014 World Cup match Wednesday against Honduras, the first match of the final round of qualifying. After the game in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, they will rejoin the Sounders in their Arizona training camp.

    In the match they will face Sounders teammate Mario Martinez, who was called to play for Honduras. Additionally, defender Adam Johansson has been called in by the Sweden National Team for a friendly against Argentina in Stockholm Wednesday.

    Evans, 27, hasn’t played for th U.S. team since July 2009. He has seven caps. Evans started and played 90 minutes in a friendly against Canada last week.

    Johnson, 28, has 45 caps and 14 goals. He helped the team advance to the final found of qualifying with two goals and one assist in matches against Antigua/Barbuda and Guatemala in October. Johnson made his national team debut in 2004. He played 73 minutes against Canada.

    Martinez, 23, has 26 caps and three goals for Honduras. Johansson has 14 caps for Sweden.

    The Sounders play a preseason game at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Tucson against the Portland Timbers. Thee game will be streamed live on MLSsoccer.com and SoundersFC.com. The Sounders return the following Tuesday for five days in Seattle before heading back to Arizona from Feb. 11-23.

    Single-match tickets for the MLS season went on sale Monday through SoundersFC.com, all Ticketmaster outlets, CenturyLink Field box office or by calling 800-745-3000. Ticket availability on a match-by-match basis is limited. Season tickets are also available at the team website and 877-657-4625.
