Seattle mayor Mike McGinn and King County Executive Dow Constantine will be part of the Seattle group making a presentation to the NBA’s combined relocation and finance committees in New York Wednesday. Chris Hansen and his arena project staffers will be the main presenters in the attempt to purchase the Kings and relocate the team to KeyArena this fall.
Both tweeted their plans Monday afternoon. A delegation from Sacramento will also make a presentation to keep the Kings.
Hansen has an agreement to buy the team from the current owners, the Maloof family. But that offer must be approved by the NBA owners, who will vote when it meets in New York April 18-19.
Wednesday’s meeting in preliminary, and decisions are unlikely. But the committees will make a recommendation to the owners.
McGinn and Constantine each worked with Hansen’s group in creating a plan to fund a $490 million Sodo arena. Both are expected to help explain the financing package as well as the political support for the project, including the status of KeyArena as well as the environmental review underway for the SoDo site.

This should help any concerns on how the new arena hasn’t broke ground yet. But OKC’s Ford Center was supposed to be upgraded for the Thunder but wasn’t until a few years after the Thunder moved in. So really, it’s the same scenario with Seattle and shouldn’t be an issue.
