The Seahawks retained another of their defensive linemen in free agency when they re-signed Tony McDaniel, 29, Wednesday a two-year contract for $6.3 million, according to multiple media reports. He was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 3 available interior lineman. Clint McDonald, who left Seattle for Tampa Bay Tuesday, was rated No. 10.

McDaniel (6-7, 305), a 15-game starter who came to Seattle on a one-year deal, played in the line rotation for 536 snaps compared to 546 for McDonald and 488 for DE Red Bryant, who was cut and left in free agency for Jacksonville. McDaniel is seen as  possible replacement at end for Bryant.

The Seahawks re-signed DL Michael Bennett Tuesday, but they cut Bryant and DE Chris Clemons Wednesday to save a combined $14 million against the salary cap. Clemons reportedly was headed to Jacksonville, where coach Gus Bradley, the former Seahawks defensive coordinator, is attempting to load up from his former team.

The Seahawks also signed, according to a league source, free-agent WR Taylor Price, 26, who missed the past two seasons with injuries. He was a third-round pick from Ohio University in 2010 by the New England Patriots. He has five career catches, and a history of conflicts with coaches in New England and Jacksonville.

In other free-agent news, TE Jermichael Finley (Green Bay) and DT Jason Hatcher (Dallas) were reported to have taken visits to Seahawks headquarters Wednesday. Seahawks free agent RT Breno Giacomini was scheduled to visit the New York Jets.

In an interview with KJR-AM Wednesday afternoon, WR Golden Tate, who signed with Detroit for five years and $31 million, including $13.25 million guaranteed, said he gave the Seahawks a chance to offer “less than somewhere else, and they didn’t take it . . . I feel like they didn’t reward me enough.”

He also said the 49ers showed some interest, “but I couldn’t do that to Seattle. That would be disrespectful.”
