Sidney Rice is back.
The Seahawks re-signed their injury-plagued receiver, whom they cut Feb. 28 to save his $7.3 million expense against the NFL salary cap. After taking a visit with the New York Jets Wednesday as a free agent, Rice announced his return in a tweet.
Rice had an acquaintance in the Jets front office. John Idzik was Seahawks VP of football operations before becoming Jets GM 16 months ago. But neither the connection nor the offer was enough to keep Rice from returning to the Super Bowl champions, as coach Pete Carroll hoped.
The 6-foot-4 Rice, 27, had 15 catches and three touchdowns last season before he tore his ACL in a midseason game in St. Louis. By signing for an unknown but team-friendly number, Rice allows the Seahawks to use higher draft picks at positions other than wide receiver, where the Seahawks took a big hit in free agency with the loss of Golden Tate to Detroit.
In 2012, Rice had 50 catches for 748 yards and seven touchdowns.

Best move for both parties. Rice is better than anything the Hawks could get in the draft (unless they get lucky which they have in the past) and Rice couldn’t get a better offer anywhere else. With Tate gone that gives Sidney more than enough of an opportunity to play when he returns.

Don’t know why but I have a feeling he is healthy and this could be a huge move him on one side with percy on other and dougy fresh with kearse as backups I’ll take that 4some evertime
