Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager was named the American League Co-Player of the Week for April 21-27 along with Chicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu. Seager hit .409 (9×22) with eight runs, five home runs, 11 RBIs and a 1.549 OPS in six games.

Seager also had four consecutive multi-hit efforts and hit a home run in three games, including two multi-home run games (Wednesday vs. Houston and Friday vs. Texas).

Over his last 13 games, Seager is hitting .304 (14×46) with nine runs, one double, five home runs, 12 RBIs and a 1.012 OPS.

Wednesday, Seager accounted for all Mariners runs in a 5-3 win, including a two-run home run in the seventh inning and a walk-off three-run shot in the ninth that gave him a career-high five RBIs. Seager homered Saturday against Texas before hitting two more Sunday against the Rangers, including the go-ahead, three-run home run in the eighth inning.

During the week, he was tied for the American League lead with five home runs and ranked third with 11 RBIs while leading the Majors with a 1.091 slugging percentage and a 1.549 OPS.

This is Seager’s first career weekly honor, and the first Player of the Week honor for the Mariners since Brad Miller July 22, 2013.
