Seahawks add center in case Unger can’t go

Concerned that C Max Unger’s strained right foot won’t be ready Sunday, the Seahawks  signed Patrick Lewis to the 53-man roster Wednesday to add depth behind Stephen Schilling, the only other center on the roster other than long snapper Clint Gresham.
Coach Pete Carroll said Unger is day to day. He left the game in Washington Monday night for three plays, then returned. He was in the locker room without a boot Wednesday.

To make room for Lewis, the team waived CB Josh Thomas, signed following the first game of the season.

Lewis, who was with Seattle briefly for the preseason game against Oakland, was the center at Texas A&M when Johnny Manziel won the Heisman. Most recently, he was on Cleveland’s practice squad.

Glad to read it’s just a foot, and not a head injury. Was afraid that he got injured on that mean “Head bob” that cost us a “Head bob” penalty.

Going into the offseason I thought upgrading the Offensive Line was a top priority and I wasn’t satisfied with the results. Granted, I’m no NFL scout and I get that the Hawks pursue players who are familiar with the schemes they use instead of just going after the best known free agents and college players but it seems to me they have the same issues as last season, though all in all last season ended on a high note.
