The Mariners Thursday made four roster moves, recalling LHP Vidal Nuño and RHP Danny Farquhar from AAA Tacoma, placing LHP Charlie Furbush on the 15-day disabled list and optioning RHP Mayckol Guaipe to the Rainiers. Nuno and Farquhar will be in uniform for Thursday night’s 7:10 p.m. series opener against the Los Angeles Angels at Safeco Field.

Furbush, with biceps tendinitis, will benefit from the pending All-Star break to get a week’s rest.

Nuño, 27, returns to the club after making one start for the Rainiers Sunday at Fresno. He appeared in nine games for the Mariners between June 7-July 1, going 0-0 with a 2.53 ERA (3 ER, 10.2 IP). The Mariners acquired Nuño from the Arizona Diamondbacks June 3. Nuño is eligible to return to the Mariners roster due to Furbush going on the disabled list.

Farquhar, 28, returns to the Mariners for the third time. In his most recent stint with Tacoma he appeared in seven games, going 0-1 with one save and a 2.61 ERA. In 22 appearances with the Mariners this season, Farquhar is 0-3 with a 6.49 ERA.

The 29-year-old Furbush is going on the disabled list for the second time in his career (last in 2012). The lefty made his most recent appearance Tuesday vs. the Detroit Tigers, striking out three batters. Furbush has made 33 appearances this season, recording a 2.08 ERA with 13 holds. He has stranded all 16 inherited runners.

Guaipe, 24, recorded a pair of losses in Detroit series. In three relief appearances with Seattle this season, he is 0-2 with an 8.31 ERA. With Tacoma, he made 26 relief appearances, going 0-4 with five saves and a 3.94 ERA.

Felix Hernandez (10-5, 3.02) will throw for Seattle Thursday night opposite RHP Garrett Richards (9-5, 3.35). Richards recorded a 4-2 win over Seattle June 27 and also beat the Mariners 5-4 May 5.

Though his appearance last night had mixed results I didn’t agree with Lord Farquhar being sent down. Or Wilhelmsen for that matter. It would be like sending Cano down: accomplishes nothing. And if Rodney, Zunino, Trumbo and Ackley are allowed to work things out why not Danny and Tom? Both of whom were solid last season and as well as for their careers.
