Marshawn Lynch, here coming up a yard short against New England in his final carry of the Super Bowl, has one angry mama. / Drew McKenzie, Sportspress Northwest

If Marshawn Lynch’s mother had her way, Darrell Bevell would be out as the offensive coordinator of the Seahawks. Delisa Lynch wrote on her Facebook page that Bevell called Lynch’s number on the game’s final play Sunday against the St. Louis Rams to “justify” not giving Lynch the ball at the goal line at the end of the Super Bowl. She also described Bevell as “the worst play caller ever.”

“Too the smart azz media who wrote that’s why marshawn didn’t get the ball in the superbowl, how many times did russell get sacked,” Delisa wrote. “Dont worry i will wait on the answer plus it was totally different at the superbowl the line was better than yesterday no blocking and to the offense caller who should have been fired yes i said it Fired !!! He is the worst play-caller ever the only reason he called that dumb azz play (Sunday) is to be able to justify the 1 yard that wasn’t called in the superbowl ,but most fans already figured this out .were still on a mission but i know the Seahawks staff loves that play caller more than a win ,go figure ‪#‎nfldontpayme# I love this team and will stand up to anybody who tries to destroy it boom!!!!”

Bevell did not call Lynch’s number at the end of the Super Bowl even though the Seahawks needed only a yard, but went to Lynch at the end of the Rams game, also a fourth-and-one. The Rams threw him for a yard loss, sealing Seattle’s 34-31 overtime loss in the Edward Jones Dome.

” (Michael Brockers) did an amazing job of knocking that tackle (Russell Okung) back and I just jumped on it and cleaned it up,” said Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald. “I wasn’t surprised they gave him the ball. He’s a great runner and all he needed was a yard.”

Edgar Martinez should be the OC.

He helped get them to two SBs. Most successful offense in team history.

I agree with her fully: This is exactly (red zone or short yardage) why we picked up one of history’s greatest receiving tight ends: Graham. After our dismal showing last year in these situations, JS was smart to get Graham. So here we are in teh first game with the PERFECT situation and he calls a RUN behind out worst in the league (probably) O-line into the Rams BEST in the league (probably) front 4? What???

      • Joe_Fan on September 15, 2015 6:02 pm

I completely agree. I’ve felt the past couple years that the Seahawks win in spite of Bevell.

        • art thiel on September 17, 2015 8:03 am

You’re entitled to feel that way. But he’s done a job with the players provided.

Can’t deny the results. 2 Super Bowl appearances, Have produced Pro Bowlers like Wilson, Lynch, Okung, Mike Robinson. Confident Graham will be one again and that someday Baldwin will be named one.

John Clayton said that Marshawn has a career YPC average of 4.9 when running out of shotgun. So by the numbers he should have been able to get the first down. If anything, I thought the handoff was a bit awkward and part of that is on Wilson.

        • eYeDEF on September 16, 2015 11:47 am

It was Nowak that missed his blocking assignment that killed the play.

        • art thiel on September 17, 2015 8:04 am

It’s on the players to execute, They didn’t.

      • art thiel on September 17, 2015 8:02 am

Facts don’t back up a firing. And he may not be head coaching material, but that doesn’t disqualify him from an OC job,

    3. DJ on September 15, 2015 6:03 pm

Yep, Bevell has always been no better than mediocre, even with the Vikings. I don’t believe that he calls plays to put the Seahawks in the best position to win. I’m amazed that the Seahawks have continued to hitch their wagon to him – he does not do justice to the talent that he has on this team……I was fully expecting and excited that they would bring stud Coleman in on that last play to lead block against this stellar defensive line, was stunned that they didn’t, and not at all surprised by the results.

Weak play called by a weak play caller.

      • eYeDEF on September 16, 2015 11:44 am

It still came down to Nowak missing his block.

        • DJ on September 16, 2015 11:53 am

Sure, but knowing that your line is already inexperienced and suspect, why not go as strong as you can? Then again, maybe Nowak learned his lessen real good since it cost them so much (sarc). Gonna be an interesting season

          • art thiel on September 17, 2015 7:58 am

They dd get 124 yards rushing against that D-line.

      • art thiel on September 17, 2015 7:55 am

Poor blocking will end the play better than the OC.

    4. tom4nash on September 16, 2015 12:55 am

She didn’t just throw the OC under the bus, she’s driving over the O-line too.

Social media is just dangerous in some people’s hands. She’s doing him no favors.

      • eYeDEF on September 16, 2015 11:46 am

She’s railed on the OL in the past. But I have to imagine that if she feels so strongly about Bevel, Marshawn is probably in that camp too.

        • art thiel on September 17, 2015 8:00 am

Marshawn has no control over her, just as she has none over him.

          • eYeDEF on September 18, 2015 1:28 am

Definitely he doesn’t control her. But I have a strong feeling that she wouldn’t quite feel as strongly if Marshawn had spent off season defending Bevell’s play call.

      • art thiel on September 17, 2015 7:59 am

The coaches truly do not care about the rants on social media.

    5. Tha Row on September 16, 2015 11:48 am

If the Seahawks do fire Bevell, they need not look far. Look at all these great OC candidates right here on the comment section!

It’s a job everyone can do better than the guy doing it.
