Seahawks add running back, LB to active roster

Among four moves Tuesday, the Seahawks signed RB Kelvin Taylor to the 53-man active roster as a replacement for RB Troymaine Pope, an undrafted rookie free agent who was placed on injured reserve with a severe ankle sprain. Seattle also placed FB Will Tukuafu on IR with a concussion and added OLB Ronald Powell to the active roster. Pope and Tukuafu are done for the season.

A sixth-round pick by San Francisco in 2011, Taylor was placed on the practice squad Nov. 30 and released Dec. 8. Taylor played college ball at the University of Florida and is the son of Fred Taylor, a running back who played 13 years in the NFL with Jacksonville and New England. Taylor will add depth to a position group that has been hit by injuries.

The Seahawks plucked Powell, a fifth-round pick by the New Orleans Saints in 2014, off the Chicago Bears’ practice squad. He also played college ball at Florida. Powell played in 14 games for the Saints during his rookie season, recording two tackles.

The Seahawks, 38-10 losers at Green Bay Sunday, host the Los Angeles Rams Thursday (5:30 p.m., PT, NBC and NFL Network).

The Seahawks (8-4-1) can clinch the NFC West with a win or tie against the Rams, or an Arizona loss or tie against New Orleans Sunday.
