Seahawks’ Moore booked on suspicion of DUI

Damontre Moore, a Seahawks backup defensive lineman, has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants and driving with a suspended license. The arrest occurred Saturday morning, Moore, 24, was booked into King County Jail shortly before 7 a.m., and was held on $1,500 bail for approximately nine hours before he was released, according to a report in the Seattle Times.

In a statement, the Seahawks said, “We are aware of the situation and are still gathering information and will defer to his representation for further comment.”

The Seahawks signed Moore as a free agent Nov. 1 to add depth after DE Michael Bennett underwent arthroscopic knee surgery, which caused Bennett to miss five games. Moore played in four games after he signed, but has missed the past two with a foot injury.

Before the Dec. 11 game against the Green Bay Packers, Carroll said Moore was a solid contributor.

“I’ve really liked him,” he said. “He just jumped right off the film, his effort, his toughness. He’s hurt (yet) he was practicing yesterday. He won’t let on at all. He’s got a very good competitive mentality.”

Moore was a third-round pick of the New York Giants in 2013. He played college ball at Texas A&M. Moore was waived by the Giants last season after he had a run-in with a teammate over an argument involving headphones. Moore has also spent time with Oakland and Miami.

Too bad. I liked him when he played for the Seahawks. I was hoping that he would take advantage of his opportunity to revitalize what has, so far, been a disappointing NFL career while in Seattle. This event would indicate a lack of focus to me…doubt that he sticks around much longer. Cab, Uber, Lyft, the free NFL fund for rides home….so many options. Just stupidity.
