    Takeaway

The Cougars beat rival Washington 79-71 at Beasley Coliseum in Pullman Sunday, completing a sweep over the Huskies for the first time since 2010-11 (box). The loss was Washington’s 10th in a row, the longest losing streak in program history.

    Essential moment

Washington’s Noah Dickerson banked in a layup with 5:35 to play to put the Huskies up 64-60, but UW didn’t score for the next 2:31, permitting an 11-0 run and reclaim the lead for good.

    Huskies (9-19, 2-14 Pac-12)

The Huskies played without the Pac-12 Conference’s leading scorer, Markelle Fultz, who sat due to the same knee injury that caused him to miss two games earlier in the season.

Starting in Fultz’s place,  freshman Carlos Johnson with 17 points from a 7-of-14 shooting performance. Noah Dickerson had 16 points and 13 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season.

David Crisp added 14 points and four assists, but was 2-of-10 from three-point range.

    Cougars (13-15, 6-10 Pac-12)

Washington State’s seniors made sure Senior Night was memorable. Forward Josh Hawkinson scored a game-high 22 points, while guards Charles Callison and Ike Iroegbu added 18 and 15 points, respectively.

Senior center Conor Clifford scored 12 points before fouling out after 22 minutes.

    Words

“In the second half, I thought we had poor shot selection. Obviously, we didn’t keep Iroegbu out of the paint down the stretch. It’s hard to overcome those.” – Washington coach Lorenzo Romar

    Next

Both teams conclude the regular season with a visit to Los Angeles. The Huskies play UCLA, who served up a 41-point blowout at Hec Ed in the first meeting between the year, Wednesday (8 p.m., FS1). Washington State faces USC Wednesday (7 p.m., Pac-12 Networks).

Hey Jenn – You watching? Do your job, PULL THE TRIGGER NOW, to get a jump on the hiring season. This loyalty stuff (what else can it be) has run its’ course. If Romar had any class he’d call Jenn and tell her “for this much, I’ll retire”. Between the two of them, this idiocy must end.
Oh, BTW, for comparisons, you have no doubt witnessed what Neighbors has done since his 2013 hire. No reason the right hire can’t be made for the men’s team.

All this for a good recruiting class? Romar has had good classes before and didn’t do squat with them

10 losses in a row. Time to cut our losses and lose the whole damn staff. I don’t care what kind of class is coming in!
