Oft-injured Barrett Ruud, acquired for depth at linebacker in the off-season after the loss of David Hawthorne to New Orleans in free agency, was traded Monday by the Seahawks to the Saints for a conditional draft pick. Ruud, 29, was acquired after Hawthorne went down with a knee injury requiring surgery for a torn meniscus.
Ruud did not play much because of the emergence of Bobby Wagner, the rookie second-round draft choice from Utah State, who appears to be the starter at middle linebacker.
Ruud had groin, knee and shoulder injuries in 2011, when he played nine games for Tennessee. He didnt play in the exhibition game against Tennessee and had limited time against Denver Saturday, making one tackle.
Any draft choice will depend on how much Ruud plays. If he doesnt stick with the Saints, the Seahawks will get nothing.
The Seahawks also waived injured DE Dexter Davis and re-signed CB Donny Lisowski of Seattle’s O’Dea High School and the University of Montana.
The Seahawks, who must cut the 90-man roster to 75 Monday, play in Kansas City Friday.
