Surprise: Seahawks cut TE Kellen Winslow

In an unexpected move, the Seahawks Saturday cut veteran TE Kellen Winslow, who was figured  to complement Zach Miller in the Seahawks’ two-tight-end formations. ProFootballTalk.com reported that Winslow’s salary of $3.3 million would have been guaranteed starting next week.

Winslow, 29, was acquired from Tampa for a seventh round draft pick. In the preseason, he caught three balls for 43 yards, including a 21-yard touchdown pass from rookie QB Kellen Winslow against Kansas City.

Winslow’s injury history prevented him from practicing much, and there was some belief that Winslow’s demands for the ball, an issue in Tampa, could have made him a headache for Wilson in his first pro starts.

Winslow, a seven-year vet, had 437 catches in 92 games for Cleveland and Tampa.
