Exit 164: Paul Allen on his sports team children

Picked up Paul Allen’s new book Idea Man, which is surprisingly hard to obtain, to see what he had to say about the Seahawks and Sounders. The answer? Not much. His section on the Blazers is much more expansive, but that’s out of our purview. On the Seahawks he mainly just recaps highlights of his tenure, revealing nothing new about the Bob Whitsitt firing or Mike Holmgren demotion (or even mentioning the name “Jim Mora.”)

He does say that the Blazers were a passion, and that he’d bought the Seahawks more out of a sense of civic duty. But now, Allen writes: “Football is much more than a civic chore for me now. I’ve gotten hooked on the weeklong buildup to Sunday, to the point where I can’t tell you which I enjoy more, the Seahawks or the Blazers.”

    That’s good news, Seahawks fans!

Jake Locker has gone from guaranteed first-round pick, to senior-year bust. Now his stock is on the rise to the point that one analyst says Locker may be the next Brett Favre!

A reason to listen to tonight’s M’s game: Ken Levine will be doing the radio broadcast.

Prep big man God’s Gift Achiuwa will announce his college decision this week, reports Percy Allen.

The Seahawks have Colin Kaepernick #2 on their board, a team source tells Rob Staton.

Still no timetable yet of Steve Zakuani’s recovery, but one doctor told Sigi Schmid that Zakuani could return this season!

Our Stanley Holmes writes that Mullan’s punishment will be a defining moment for MLS.

Ken Griffey Jr.’s daughter Taryn Griffey has been invited to USA Basketball’s U16 National Team tryouts.
