Washington State fans, and fans of pirates as well as originality, will enjoy the news that Sportspress Northwest is expanding its coverage to include the Cougars’ Pac-12 football season.

Mike Leach, the wildly successful former Texas Tech coach, is expected to bring his quirky, dead-honest approach to Pullman, where correspondent Adam Lewis will report on the deeds of the new coach as he tries to help the Cougars recover from a 4-8 season in tricked-out Martin Stadium. His first story, Leach’s three rules of player behavior that are inviolate, can be found below.

The Cougars open Aug. 30 in Provo, Utah, against BYU.

“SPNW Readers Treated To Cougars Coverage.”  Someone could have fun with a headline like that.  Really, though, I expect the Cougars within several years to be giving the Huskies a run for their money, which again, though, is not necessarily saying much.
