Season done, the Seahawks brought back their practice squad by signing nine players to futures contracts. Wednesday, CB Akeem Auguste, WR Phil Bates, DT Michael Brooks, DT Dewayne Cherrington, WR Arceto Clark, TE Cooper Helfet, DT D’Anthony Smith and G Jared Smith, who had been on injured reserve, were brought back.
Thursday the group was completed with the retention of QB B.J. Daniels, who spent part of the season on the active roster before being released and added to the practice squad.
The players are long shots to make the active roster in September. But it has been done, notably by OG Paul McQuistan and CB Brandon Browner in 2011.
Others who have been elevated from the practice squad in the last two years include WRs Jermaine Kearse, Ricardo Lockette and Bryan Walters and FB Derrick Coleman.
