The Seattle Sounders (1-1) won’t play the Montreal Impact (0-2) at 1 p.m. Saturday. Major League Soccer said Friday that forecasted heavy snow and cold postponed the game 24 hours to 1 p.m. Sunday at Olympic Stadium. That start time is also weather permitting.
Saturday’s forecast is for four to six inches of snow. The stadium roof can only handle an inch of snow.
Montreal, which holds a 2-0 all-time lead against the Sounders, started the season winless, dropping a pair of road contests at FC Dallas and Houston. The Sounders look to rebound from a 2-1 loss to Toronto FC Saturday.
Earlier Friday, MLS announced the suspension, for two games, and fine of Seattle midfielder and U.S. National Team captain Clint Dempsey for his actions during Saturday’s loss to Toronto FC last week.

This game must have been postponed since the 70s.
I used to think they need to get rid of that cover on the stadium and let the sky in. Still think that but at this time of the year probably not.
This stadium was built for hundreds of millions of dollars back in the Seventies (and didn’t even HAVE a roof for years), but it can handle only ONE INCH of snow on the roof? In Montreal? Brilliant. Maybe they can use the outdoor stadium the Alouettes abandoned Olympic Stadium for. If they can make it in from the airport.
It’s a decent facility without the roof, a dreary Tupperware container with it. And yeah, only one inch of snow? Why even have one then?
Apparently it would cost as much to build a new stadium as it would to repair the roof, or even a new one. http://ballparkdigest.com/201312036837/major-league-baseball/news/shocker-olympic-stadiums-roof-needs-more-repairs
