Sounders defender Chad Marshall has been named to the 22-man roster that will play Tottenham Hotspur in the MLS All-Star Game July 29 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, CO. This is the second consecutive All-Star selection and fourth overall for Marshall, who joins forward Clint Dempsey on the team.
The 30-year-old Marshall, also an All-Star in 2009, 2010 and 2014, is in his second season with Seattle. The 2014 Defender of the Year has appeared in 17 games, logging 1,449 minutes and helping the club to a 0.95 goals-against-average (second in MLS).
Forward Obafemi Martins was not named to the roster due to injury but is still considered an All-Star.
The Sounders (10-8-2, 32 points), take on the Colorado Rapids at 7 p.m. Saturday night at CenturyLink Field. They will again be without Martins and Dempsey, who tallied a hat trick Saturday in the USA’s 6-0 rout of Cuba in the Gold Cup semifinals at Baltimore.
