The Mariners Tuesday recalled RHP Mayckol Guaipe from AAA Tacoma and optioned RHP Jose Ramirez back to the Rainiers. Guaipe was available for second of three games against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field in Denver Tuesday night.

Guaipe, 24, went 0-4 with a 3.02 ERA (14 ER, 41.2 IP) with 31 strikeouts in 34 relief appearances with Tacoma. Over his last 15 appearances with the Rainiers, he posted a 1.42 ERA with 12 strikeouts. In three games with Seattle, he is 0-2 with an 8.31 ERA (4 ER, 4.1 IP during two previous stints).

The 25-year-old Ramirez was acquired from New York at the trade deadline and did not make an appearance with Seattle. He went 3-0 with 10 saves and a 2.90 in 32 relief appearances with AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season. Ramirez also saw action in three games with the Yankees this season (0-0, 15.00 ERA) and made eight appearances in his debut season in 2014 (0-2, 5.40).

The Mariners gave a spot start to LHP Vidal Nuno Tuesday due to the trade of A.J. Happ. Nuno is 0-0, 2.11, all in relief. He opposed RHP Jon Gray, who will be making his major league debut.

Winners of two in a row, the Mariners close out the Colorado series with a 12:10 p.m. matinee Wednesday, take Thursday off, and begin a weekend series Friday against Texas at Safeco Field.

So…….. I’m watching the first Pittsburgh Pirates start by JA Happless….. just goes to show, there are other clowns out there besides Trader Jack Z who don’t know bad when they see it. In his typical M’s style, he has loaded the bases in the first inning & walked in a run. Good riddance.

      Bottom 3….. JA Happless 60 plus pitches in 3 innings, 7 hits, 3 er…… Chi 3, Pit 0. This looks familiar :-)
