The Mariners Saturday recalled RHP Danny Farquhar from AAA Tacoma to fill the roster vacancy left by RHP Mayckol Guaipe, who was optioned to the Rainiers following Friday night’s 15-1 loss to the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Farquhar was available to the Mariners Saturday as they met the Red Sox.
Farquhar, 28, has made 25 appearances in three stints with Seattle this season, posting an 0-3 record with a 6.23 ERA in 30.1 innings. In 22 appearances with Tacoma, he is 1-1, 3.62 ERA. In his most recent stint in the Pacific Coast League, he appeared in 10 games with a 2.13 ERA and 13 strikeouts.
Farquhar made his last appearance Thursday against Sacramento, recording a pair of strikeouts in a perfect inning. He has allowed only one run over his last five appearances while recording 10 strikeouts.
Guaipe, 25, is 0-3 with a 7.50 ERA (10 ER, 12.0 IP) in eight appearances with the Mariners this season. Guaipe allowed three earned runs in 1.2 innings Friday night.
According to Elias Sports Bureau, the Mariners are the first team since the 1905 Red Sox to allow as many as 15 runs in a game immediately following a no-hitter. Hisashi Iwakuma tossed the no-no Wednesday against Baltimore, the Mariners had Thursday off, and then were obliterated Friday.
Felix Hernandez (14-6, 3.11) pitches for Seattle opposite LHP Wade Miley (8-9, 4.68).

Luckily, that JZ guy , who won some award years ago at the Brewers for getting credit for finding good talent, has really stocked the farm with… well, now he’s chasing Bavasi to the bottom of the barrel. From the Cliff Lee acquisition on, it’s been a slide for Z, and summarily dismissing and revamping of chunks his scouting team didn’t exactly seem to help. Good to hear Lloyd refer to Z’s poor trading skills when he made the statement about Hisashi– between the lines is a Wedge perspective, it seems.
There was quite a bit of buzz about Dombrowski being visited by some front office guy from the Clownship last week, as well as the Jays, Nats and a few others. Then I heard and read nothing else about it. What’s the buzz here– any chance Lincoln would hand over the baseball reins entirely or that Dombrowski would even consider working for him– as most baseball people won’t?

A real baseball man like Dombrowski coming to Seattle is most likely a pipe dream. Unfortunately as bad as that clown Trader Jack Z has been, it’s pretty much the entire team to blame for this awful season, except for Cruz obviously. Princess Felix getting totally smashed again is definitely cause for alarm. Take a look at your “number one” SP everybody….. he is a joke. A mental midget. He gets the start a day after they get pounded & he goes out there & gets hammered too. He is a joke & needs to be peddled away in the offseason while he still has a little trade value left. Can you say Felix Verlander?
