The Sounders will open the 2016 regular season at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 6 against Sporting Kansas City at CenturyLink Field (FOX Sports 1 and Deportes). The complete 2016 regular-season slate will be announced Jan. 7.

The Sounders are 5-2-0 all-time in regular season openers, including a 1-0 win over Sporting Kansas City last year. This also marks the sixth time in eight seasons that Seattle will open its campaign on national television.

Following the opener, Sigi Schmid’s club will face Real Salt Lake in its home opener March 12 at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, UT. Seattle is 6-7-4 all-time in regular-season play against RSL, with the Rave Green posting a 2-1-1 record in the MLS Cup playoffs.

Additional information on kickoff times and broadcast details for these games and others will be disclosed Jan. 7 as part of the complete 2016 regular-season schedule announcement.
