The Mariners made five more roster moves Sunday, optioning RHP Jonathan Aro, LHP David Rollins and C Steven Baron to AAA Tacoma, while re-assigning to minor league camp RHP Adrian Sampson and INF Ed Lucas. The moves leave the Mariners with 40 players in the big league camp, including 32 roster players and eight non-roster invitees (two are on the 60-day disabled list).

Aro, who spent part of 2015 with the Boston Red Sox, had an 8.53 ERA in six spring training appearances covering 6.1 innings. Rollins appeared in five spring games, going 0-1 with a 2.57 ERA.  Baron, Seattle’s 25-year-old first-round pick in 2009, batted 3-for-10 (.300), all singles.

The Mariners launch their 2016 schedule April 4 at Texas. The Safeco Field opener is April 8 against the Oakland Athletics.
