The Seahawks promoted DE Branden Jackson, an undrafted free agent from Texas Tech who played with the Raiders in 2016, from their practice squad to the 53-man roster Saturday ahead of Sunday’s game in Los Angeles against the NFC-West leading Rams.
LB Justin March-Lillard was waived to make room.
The Seahawks were shorthanded on the defensive line after Cliff Avril was declared out indefinitely following a neck stinger during a tackle in Sunday’s win over Indianapolis.
Quentin Jefferson, a fifth-round choice in 2016, was signed Monday to add positional depth, but he broke a bone in his hand at the beginning of practice Wednesday. He will need surgery and is likely out four weeks.
Jackson, 25, was with the Raiders through the preseason before being cut. The 6-4, 273-pounder played in three games last season. The Seahawks added him to the practice squad in September.
Also, DB Jeremy Lane (groin) and RB C.J. Prosise (ankle) were downgraded from doubtful to out.
