The Mariners trimmed the major league rosterTuesday, sending five players to AAA Tacoma and six to the club’s minor league camp. Most notable players affected were LHP Bobby LaFromboise and INF Carlos Triunfel, scheduled to start the season with the Rainiers of the Pacific Coast League.

LaFromboise saw action in 10 games last season, posting a 5.91 ERA in a relief role. Triunfel played in 17 games and hit .136 in 44 at-bats.

The Mariners also sent RHP Logan Bawcom, C Jesus Sucre and INF Ji-Man Choi to Tacoma.

RHPs Logan Kensing and Matt Palmer, LHP Nick Hill, C Mike Dowd and INFs Ty Kelly and Nate Tenbrink were re-assigned to the minor league camp.

The moves leave 44 players in the major league camp, including 32 roster players and 12 non-roster invitees. The breakdown includes 23 pitchers, three catchers, nine infielders and nine outfielders.

No surprises. I’m wondering if they’ll go with 2 catchers and Montero as the DH?
