The Seahawks Wednesday released linebacker Marcus Dowtin and guard Greg Van Roten, re-signed running back Demitrius Bronson and claimed center Patrick Lewis off waivers from the Jacksonville Jaguars. Bronson, from Auburn and a University of Washington recruit who transferred to Eastern Washington, was lopped in the cutdown to 75 Monday.
Lewis entered the NFL in 2013 as a rookie free agent with the Green Bay Packers, but was released on the final roster cut last August. He was claimed the next day by the Cleveland Browns, who released him in November and then signed him to their practice squad. The Jaguars signed him off the Browns’ practice squad in December.
Dowtin originally signed with Seattle Aug. 1 and Van Roten signed a future contract with Seattle Feb. 14.
The Seahawks close out their preseason schedule Thursday night with a 7 p.m. contest at Oakland.
